Introduction to Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA)

On March 15, 2023, a seminar on the topic “Introduction to Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA)” was held. The seminar was conducted by an expert in the field, Head of the Agroconsulting Center, Kassym R.T.

During the seminar, the fundamentals of climate change and global challenges were discussed, and the CRVA methodology was presented. Special attention was given to identifying climate hazards, vulnerability and exposure, as well as to the role of higher education institutions in assessing climate risks.

Participants gained basic knowledge and understanding of approaches to analyzing climate risks in both scientific and applied activities.

The seminar was attended by students, master’s and doctoral candidates of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU), ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev, as well as employees and researchers of the Kazakh Research Institute of Economy of Agro-Industrial Complex and Rural Development. In addition, students of S. Seifullin University participated online.

The seminar was conducted with the aim of raising awareness of key directions in the field of education and science, as well as in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 13 — “Climate Action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts”;

SDG 4 — “Quality Education: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education”.
